Roland Hayes Memorial Scholarship
ABOUT
The Calhoun-Gordon Community Foundation created the Roland Hayes Memorial Scholarship to commemorate the life and achievements of Roland Hayes, a gifted, African American vocalist (lyric tenor) who grew up in Curryville (Gordon County) and went on to perform on stages around the world despite facing the racial divides of the time. After he rose to international fame, Hayes mentored young, aspiring vocalists.
Up to three annual scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1,000, will be awarded to college-bound students from Gordon County who have demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication to vocal arts, music, theatre arts, or other related fields, and who plan to continue his or her studies in this area.
To apply, fill out the form below. The 2025 deadline is Thursday, April 17.
