Fantasy Factory Scholarship

ABOUT

The Community Foundation of NWGA is proud to partner with the Fantasy Factory in offering the Fantasy Factory Scholarship, an incredible opportunity for students dreaming of a career in graphic arts. This scholarship awards $3,000 to one talented student pursuing a college degree in graphic arts or a related field and is open to all high school seniors in the Northwest Georgia area.

The Scholarship fund will be managed by the Community Foundation of Northwest Georgia.

For students passionate about art, this is an amazing chance to build a portfolio, gain recognition, and move closer to achieving their goals. The Fantasy Factory Scholarship not only supports students financially but also highlights the importance of comic art as a powerful medium for storytelling and self-expression.

HOW TO APPLY:

In addition to completing the required application and essay below, applicants will be judged on their ability to create comic book-style artwork based on a script written by professional comic book writer Dan Jolley. Dan’s works include DC Comics’ Firestorm and JSA: The Unholy Three, which won an Eisner Award.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ARTWORK:

Applicants must submit artwork on 11”x17” paper (blue line comic paper is optional). Because comic art is normally done in stages not all pages need to be inked and finished; however, at least 3 pages should be inked. Color and captions are at a later step in the artwork process, but if you feel these play to your strengths feel free to add them to some of your pages.
